The increasing complexity of health plans and their management has made billing for laboratory services more intricate and less predictable. Like a clinic, it's often challenging to determine insurance coverage and patient financial responsibility before a service is performed.
In response to this, Emeritus Medical Technology proudly offers our Patient's First Billing (PFB) program to our clients. This program encourages patients with queries about their procedure, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), or invoice to directly contact our Client Services and Billing teams. We empower patients to ask any questions and share comments or feedback about both the service and its billing aspects. Our goal with the PFB program is to address patient concerns as efficiently and swiftly as possible, ensuring that patients maintain control over their healthcare expenses.
Please reach us at cs@emeritusdx.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Your healthcare provider selected Emeritus Medical Technology's laboratories, EmeritusDX and Freedom Pathology, to conduct your medical test. This decision was made because of our proven ability to deliver precise and timely lab results, which are essential for effective health management. Our services, including certain specific tests, offer a level of quality that other labs, even those within your insurance network, might not be able to provide. Should you wish to gain more insight into the particular test your doctor has ordered for you, our Client Services team is available and eager to assist you.
When opting to use your insurance for medical procedures, we will charge the total cost of the procedure to your insurance provider. Your insurance plan may require you to pay deductibles and copays, often known as "patient responsibility". This information, including any amount you owe, will be detailed in an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statement sent to you by your insurance company.
It's important to understand that an EOB is not a bill. It merely provides details about the charges and any patient responsibility that may arise. If your insurance company determines that a payment is due from you, we are legally obligated to bill and collect these patient responsibilities. Any bills related to this will be issued directly from Emeritus Medical Technology.
If you choose not to use insurance for your treatment, we will bill you directly. Our prices for direct payments or cash payments are based on fee schedules published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Remember, your payment method is decided when your test is first ordered. Be sure to inform your doctor of your preferred payment option when your test requisition is being completed.
The saying "you get what you pay for" is often true in healthcare, but we understand that financial constraints can sometimes make it challenging to afford necessary care. Don't worry, that's exactly why we offer the PFB program, which can be easily accessed in three straightforward steps:
Step 1: Reach out to us first. You can either call us at 800-959-2846 or send an email to cs@emeritusdx.com. Inform us about your current financial situation.
Step 2: Have a conversation with one of our approachable customer service team members. Share your specific needs with us. We have various methods to tailor our services to your situation, but we need to understand your circumstances first.
Step 3: Let us guide you through the different financial assistance options we offer. To learn about and take advantage of our financial consideration programs, all you need to do is ask for help!
At times, insurance companies might send the payment for Lab Services directly to the patient, particularly for out-of-network services. In such instances, we ask you to endorse the back of the check and mail it to us, along with a copy of your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statement. Please address it to:
Emeritus Medical Technology, 12 Spectrum Pointe Drive, Lake Forest, CA 92630, attention Billing.
It's possible that the insurer might not fully clarify why they sent the payment to you. However, it's crucial to understand that you, as the patient, may be accountable for any payments owed to the provider. Should you have any queries, our helpful team is always available to assist you.
